ABOUT THE ARTIST - meeK is an American poet, spoken word vocalist, motivational speaker, writer and photography artist. Her collaboration with Bassist Kirk Green and The Brass King resulted in the release of her debut album 'Egression' in October 2007, which was well received on both sides of the Atlantic. An openly gay artist, meeK has participated in an GLBT fundraiser for Barack Obama and will appear in several national Gay Pride events in2008. Other notable features include; WHUR-WORLD(DC), ‘Love Tattoo’music video, WRFG(Alanta), WBAI-FM(New York), :) One Atlanta Magazine,WDAS-FM(Philadelphia), Access Atlanta, Winterfresh Music Series, she is the ‘resident poet’ of a monthly production, “Erotically Speaking”. A full-time artist, meek travels nationally, entrancing, entertaining & enlightening crowds of all backgrounds. Her first book, “Put the Devil to shame and tell the truth”, is set for release later this year. Some of her fine art is currently on display at Atlanta’s renowned Apache CafĂ©. As well as being a prominent performer and contributor within the Atlanta art community, meeK is a proud parent of two beautiful children.

ABOUT THE ARTIST - Marketing consultant Marquita Thomas, founder of Out & About, a group for lesbians and bisexual women of color, is a longtime activist and founder of the Serafemme Queer Women of Color Music Festival. She's assisted in promoting events on a national level including Girls in the Night's Femme-nomen-al Weekend at Atlanta Pride and the Ebony Pyramid Black Gay and Lesbian Cruise to the Bahamas. For the past two years, she has produced multicultural women's events at Dinah Shore weekend and has recently joined the marketing/promotions team at the National Black Lesbian Conference. She recently received the LA Gay & Lesbian Center's L.A.C.E Award in Arts & Entertainment and the Pat Parker Arts Award from Christopher Street West.

ABOUT THE SERAFEMME FESTIVAL - Serafemme Queer Women of Color Music Festival is a six-hour,17+ artist outdoor festival created in 2005 by producer Marquita Thomas to address the lack of visibility for lesbian and bisexual women of color artists. In just a few years, it has garnered an audience of hundreds and grasped the attention of women all over the world who enjoy its eclectic mix of music, spoken word & comedy. Grammy nominated & Tony award winners Nadirah Shakoor and Staceyann Chin have graced its stage and the response to the festival has been overwhelming. This year's festival is slated for August 17, 2008 at the West Hollywood Park Baseball field and it is sponsored in major part by the Lesbian Visibility Committee of the City of West Hollywood.
